Thoughts on This Week’s In-home Releases

The home releases of The Addams Family 2, Last Night in Soho, and Titane are the most noteworthy releases on home video and streaming services this week.

FilmBook Writer Thomas Duffy reviewed The Addams Family 2 and had this to say about the film:

There is no reason to say The Addams Family 2 doesn’t have the potential to appeal to young newcomers to the material. They probably won’t think all the jokes are as clever as the filmmakers do, though. I grew up on re-runs of the old TV show and saw the live action movie versions in the theater when they came out in the early 1990’s. The recent animated films just don’t cut it for me but there is a definite audience for the film somewhere out there.

FilmBook Writer Thomas Duffy reviewed Last Night in Soho and had this to say about the film:

Last Night In Soho is well made and director Edgar Wright maintains enough genuine interest here to make this movie work really well as a thriller. There were a lot of things I expected to happen that never did and, also, a lot of things I never expected to happen that actually did happen. Not every choice Wright makes is perfect but the casting of Anya Taylor-Joy in this project was simply a stroke of pure genius.

FilmBook Writer Thomas Duffy reviewed Titane and had this to say about the film:

this film must be seen for its truly intriguing storyline and performances. Titane is nothing short of a cinematic rarity–a film which challenges viewers to see something that may be impossible (a pregnancy through sex with a car) with a humane eye. This film makes the viewer question if Alexia’s suffering is punishment for her actions and whether or not her relationship with Vincent will be her salvation.
