Thoughts on This Week’s In-home Releases

The home releases of Everything Everywhere All at Once, Downton Abbey: A New Era, Memory, Platoon, and Mean Girls are the most noteworthy releases (and pre-orders) on home video and streaming services this week.

FilmBook Writer Thomas Duffy reviewed Everything Everywhere All at Once and had this to say about the film:

Everything Everywhere All at Once is a true work of art that can appeal to those willing to put the extra effort into understanding all the important things it is trying to say alongside the more fun things it does to keep the viewer entertained. In addition, the fact that the movie probably requires multiple viewings to get everything out of it makes it all the more powerful because, like life, it is full of complexity.

FilmBook Writer Thomas Duffy reviewed Downton Abbey: A New Era and had this to say about the film:

Set in the late 1920’s as cinematic “talkies” were coming into the mainstream, Downton Abbey: A New Era has the perfect story line to attract anybody who loves the movies. What’s special about this new film is that it does not require that you have seen a single episode of the wildly popular British series on which it is based to absolutely enjoy it.

FilmBook Writer Thomas Duffy reviewed Memory and had this to say about the film:

There are plenty of tricks that the plot lets out of the bag that will leave the audience wanting more. I only wished that a key plot development didn’t occur with Neeson’s character towards the end but, overall, Memory is surprisingly a rather worthwhile effort.
