Thoughts on This Week’s In-home Releases

The home releases of The Worst Person in the World, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, and True Romance are the most noteworthy releases on home video and streaming services this week.

FilmBook Writer Thomas Duffy reviewed Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore and had this to say about the film:

In the end, director David Yates had fashioned an interesting picture that could have found the center of its story in the editing room and probably should have been trimmed about 20 minutes. That doesn’t mean the beasts aren’t noteworthy, just a little less prominent to the story than they could have been. Devoted fans of the series may be more forgiving of the movie’s flaws and could enjoy it a bit more.

FilmBook Writer Thomas Duffy reviewed The Worst Person in the World and had this to say about the film:

The Worst Person in the World is such a funny, powerful movie that it will no doubt provide Drive My Car with stiff competition at the Oscars in the category of Best International Feature Film. Drive My Car may ultimately win but both films are equally powerful in terms of their character development. Trier’s picture has so much passion in it from its stars that is destined to make a lasting impact on the viewer.

FilmBook Writer Thomas Duffy reviewed Firestarter and had this to say about the film:

Firestarter is proof that trying to improve upon something that doesn’t need tinkering with can back”fire” with results that will leave viewers not only disappointed but skeptical of future King remakes which are in the works. I hope the promised remake of Christine doesn’t turn out like this.
