Thoughts on This Week’s In-home Releases

The home releases of Minions: The Rise of Gru, Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris, Paradise Highway, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Where the Crawdads Sing are the most noteworthy releases (and pre-orders) on home video and streaming services this week.

FilmBook Writer Thomas Duffy reviewed Minions: The Rise of Gru and had this to say about the film:

Minions: The Rise of Gru is a bright, colorful, noisy, zany mess. It’s attractive to watch at times but there’s too much and too little going on at the same time. For one, there are way too many interesting characters and not enough screen time to adequately deal with them all.

FilmBook Writer Thomas Duffy reviewed Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris and had this to say about the film:

Despite its flaws, Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris is still a great way to see Manville excel in a role she was simply born to play. If the year was over at this point, she’d have an Oscar nomination in the bag.

FilmBook Writer Thomas Duffy reviewed Paradise Highway and had this to say about the film:

Anna Gutto’s new film is really not a bad movie but it needed another rewrite and more substance regarding the issues it presents to be recommended viewing.
