Katherine McNamara has landed a supporting role in 20th Century Fox’s The Maze Runner Chapter II: The Scorch Trials, with two additional sequel options. Plot and character details are being kept under wraps, but we know her character’s name is Sonya.

Wes Ball returns to direct

She also has booked a lead opposite Mira Sorvino, Cary Elwes, Christopher Backus and Neal McDonough in indie feature Indiscretion. Written by Laura Boersma and John Stewart Muller and directed by Muller, the pic centers on Veronica (Sorvino), a politician’s wife who has a torrid affair with a young artist, Victor (Backus). McNamara plays Lizzy, the precocious daughter of Veronica (Sorvino) and Jake (McDonough), who dreams of one day becoming a successful ballet dancer. She too falls for Victor, but is forbidden from seeing him, and is torn between being the good girl she has always been and the woman she hopes to become.

Paramount Pictures, Skydance Productions and JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot just set Justin Lin to direct Star Trek 3

He replaces Roberto Orci, who got that job after being involved as co-writer of the revamped Star Trek series.

Lovesong

So Yong Kim has set Jena Malone and Riley Keough to lead Lovesong, the tale of best friends Sarah (Keough) and Mindy (Malone) who take off on an impromptu road trip with Sarah’s young daughter in tow and see their deep BFFship develop into a surprising romance – despite the fact that Mindy is about to get married.

Kim wrote Lovesong with frequent collaborator Bradley Rust Gray

Also cast in the indie…are Brooklyn Decker (Just Go With It, Results), Amy Seimetz (The Killing, Upstream Color), Marshall Chapman (Country Strong, Mississippi Grind), Ryan Eggold (The Blacklist, 90210) and Rosanna Arquette (Girls, Ray Donovan).

Steve Jobs Film

Katherine Waterston has landed a lead in the Danny Boyle-directed Steve Jobs film. She has been offered the role of Chrisann, Jobs’ first wife.

Michael Fassbender plays Jobs, The Interview‘s Seth Rogen plays Steve Wozniak, and Michael Stuhlbarg plays Andy Hertzfeld, the computer scientist and inventor who was part of the original Apple development team that came up with Macintosh Operating System.
