Rob Schneider Could Be Back in Sequel to Hit Comedy

Everybody’s favorite Adam Sandler collaborator, Rob Schneider is looking to make a sequel to 2001’s funny smash, The Animal.

Say what you want about Rob Schneider but I’m sure he frequently tells himself, “You can do it!” when it comes to setting out to accomplish his goals. His latest endeavor is making a sequel to the 2001 $57 million grossing hit comedy, The Animal. That film was a critic-proof success which earned a solid “B+” CinemaScore grade when it was initially released. Fans of the movie have waited a long time for a follow-up movie and may finally get it.

After the success of The Animal, Schneider went on to appear in a sequel to the 1999 $65 million grossing hit, Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo called Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo which was released in 2005 but only earned a mere $22 million at the domestic box-office. Still, despite low CinemaScore grades of “B” and “C+,” respectively, the Deuce Bigalow films were all in fun and it will great to see Schneider finally making a part two to The Animal even if it has been a long time in the making.

Fox’s Tubi will be where you will be able to see The Animal sequel if it gets the “go ahead.” In the original movie, Schneider played Marvin Mange, a clerk who receives transplanted animal parts after he gets severely injured. Of course, as a result, Marvin begins to act a little wild in a true comic style that proved to be crowd pleasing to his fan base.

Schneider will be wearing many hats in the forthcoming sequel. He will be co-writing, producing and directing the upcoming picture as well as, of course, starring in the lead role in it. It’s got a funny central premise as Schneider’s character is now much older and should prove to have plenty of funny one-liners as per your typical Schneider film.

“You can do it!” was Rob Schneider’s famous line in Adam Sandler’s hit 1998 movie, The Waterboy. Schneider is known best for that phrase from that hilarious movie and he is also known for his work in ensemble comedies like the $59 million grossing The Benchwarmers from 2006 where he played opposite the likes of comic talents such as David Spade, Jon Lovitz and Jon Heder. That 2006 film received a “B” which is representative of just what Schneider movies are for fans which is just good fun; nothing more or nothing less. It is unlikely Schneider will be headed to the Oscars any time soon but, still, The Animal sequel could be a lot of fun for his biggest admirers.
