Gambit

Channing Tatum Reveals More Info on Gambit and Says He Won’t Appear in X-Men: Apocalypse. We have known for a while that Gambit will make his solo debut on screen. However, we won’t be seeing him in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse according to Channing Tatum.

While doing an AMA at Reddit to promote his new film Magic Mike XXL, a fan asked if Tatum’s Gambit would be appearing in upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse. “No ma’am, or sir. I definitely will not,” the actor replied when asked about his character possibly appearing in Bryan Singer’s film.

He did comment on director Rupert Wyatt taking over the reigns for Gambit’s solo film. “We finally found someone that I really do believe wants to make Gambit,” Tatum said about Wyatt. He also added:

It will be the second standalone character. And I just really think because Gambit is not the most popular or the biggest hero, I think there’s a really unique opportunity. Marvel’s done a lot of great movies that have made a ridiculous amount of money, and it’s always good to figure how to change the form.

Tatum will also be funding the film as a producer with his partner Reid Carolin, along with X-Men franchise’s Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner. Gambit, which is being written by Josh Zetumer, will release on October 7, 2016.
