Game of Thrones George W. Bush Head, Joffrey Baratheon Target Poster. George W. Bush‘s head appearance on the Season One DVD and Blu-ray of Game of Thrones: Season 1 (reviewed here: Blu-ray Review: Game of Thrones (2011): Season 1) and Target Joffrey Baratheon TV show poster are both very entertaining. The Joffrey poster is hilarious and has a few funny attributes (look for the wolf and Stark Paper logo in the poster).

Regarding Bush, at first the story about the George W. Bush head was small. Now the story has snowballed.

On former U.S. President George W. Bush’s head appearance in season 1, episode 10 of Game of Thrones, entitled Fire and Blood (reviewed here: TV Review: Game of Thrones: Season 1, Episode 10: Fire and Blood and HD pictures/clips here: Game of Thrones: Season 1, Episode 10: Fire and Blood Photos / Clips):

in the final episode of the first season of HBO’s Game of Thones, former President George W. Bush makes an appearance as a decapitated prop head on a stake. It’s a minor cameo — no one seemed to notice when the episode originally aired (on June 19, 2011) or when the season hit DVD (on March 6 of this year).

But a Reddit user pointed out that the commentary track for that episode featured producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss commenting on the fact that the prop head was made to resemble Bush, and the story blew up fast. The producers apologized, and HBO apologized, but that isn’t enough — HBO has pulled the episode from the HBO Go service and iTunes, and is halting shipments of the existing DVD and Blu-ray copies of the season.

The network said today,

We were deeply dismayed to see this and find it unacceptable, disrespectful and in very bad taste. We made this clear to the executive producers of the series who apologized immediately for this careless mistake. We condemn it in the strongest possible terms and have halted all future shipments of the DVDs, removed it from our digital platforms and will edit the scene for all future airings on any distribution domestic or international.

They certainly did not list the Bush head shot in the list of features for Blu-ray/DVD for Game of Thrones: Season 1. I wonder if there will be a Hitler reaction clip to this like the Hitler’s reaction to Ned Stark’s death video.

Season 1 of Game of Thrones starred Sean Bean, Mark Addy, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Michelle Fairley, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Iain Glen, Aidan Gillen, Harry Lloyd, Kit Harington, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, Richard Madden, Alfie Allen, Isaac Hempstead-Wright, Jack Gleeson, Rory McCann, Peter Dinklage, Gethin Anthony, Conleth Hill, and Jason Momoa.

Watch the section of DVD commentary where David Benioff and D.B. Weiss talk about the scene where President George W. Bush’s head appears in Game of Thrones: Season 1, Episode 10: Fire and Blood and leave your thoughts on it below in the comments section. For more Game of Thrones photos, videos, and reviews, visit our Game of Thrones Page, subscribe to us by Email, follow us on Twitter or on Facebook.
