Given the official outline for the series, posted here, Gotham has had a sizable developmental shift from its original premise.

Initially a cross between Gordon’s role from Batman: Year One, and the Gotham Central comic series, Gotham could now be described as a cross between Gordon: Year One, and Smallville; its focus split between Gordon’s navigation and rise, through the Gotham PD ranks, and the formative years of Bruce Wayne, and the future members of the Batman rogues gallery.

Personally, I find this to be something of a cop-out. DC properties have become entirely too dependent on Batman and Superman, and this evolution reflects a lack of confidence in a Gotham project without signature icons.
Still, given recent rumors of the production going full Smallville (Gotham High – Iconic characters squeezed into teenage cliques & arch-types?), things could’ve been much worse.

First out of the rogues gallery to get the junior treatment: Catwoman. Set images show Camren Bicondova slipping into a familiar set of active wear, seemingly to perform a characteristic act of charitable mischief.

Screenshot of what it’s all about.

Camren Bicondova’s lifelong dance background will no doubt serve her well, for the role (much like it did for Anne Hathaway in The Dark Knight Rises); and her outfit is certainly reminiscent of  the latest, most practical, of Catwoman’s costumes.

Where Gotham‘s Selina Kyle departs from canon, however, is in her seemingly being a contemporary of Bruce Wayne – if not classmate/ childhood friend.

In addition to the BTS images, a trio of screenshot images have surfaced, depicting the seminal moment of Bruce Wayne’s life.

Gotham will also feature Zabryna Guevara as Captain Essen, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth, Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot and Jada Pinkett Smith as Fish Mooney. The series, written & executive produced by Bruno Heller (The Mentalist), has received a full commitment, and will likely debut on the Fox Television network’s 2014 Fall schedule.
