The Great Wall Trailer

Yimou Zhang‘s The Great Wall (2016) movie trailer stars Matt Damon, Kenny Lin, Pedro Pascal, Andy Lau, and Tian Jing. The Great Wall‘s plot synopsis: “Set in the Northern Song Dynasty, [the film focuses on the] …mystery centered around the construction of the Great Wall of China.”

I was not expecting this. I was not expecting a highly expensive Chinese produced film with U.S. stars that seems like an aggrandized monster film. The Great Wall film, via this trailer, has style, scope, and by all indications, was actually shot on location in China at The Great Wall.

The Great Wall was the must expensive film entirely shot in China at $135 Million. The viewer sees that money on-screen. With how films are marketed and distributed in multiple territories, The Great Wall was a good gamble for Universal Pictures and China Film Group Corporation. China is a huge market for films and Universal Pictures should have no problem in recouping their investment.

The Great Wall also stars Eddie Peng, Willem Dafoe, Numan Acar, and Hanyu Zhang.
