The Night Of Trailers

HBO‘s The Night Of (2016) TV show trailers stars Poorna Jagannathan, Syam M. Lafi, John Turturro, David Chen, and Amara Karan. The Night Of‘s plot synopsis: “After a night of partying with a female stranger, [Nasir Khan] wakes up to find her stabbed to death and is charged with her murder.”

This looks good. I watched most of the first episode of BBC’s Criminal Justice on which The Night Of is based on. When I read the plot line for this series, I thought “This sounds familiar.” After a little digging, I found out why. That being said, The Night Of seems more like a reinvention than a remake, equivalent to the difference between the 1939 version of The Little Princess and the 1995 version of The Little Princess.

The trailers don’t divulge much besides John Turturro’s prophetic advice that doesn’t seem to be followed by the listener.

The first episode was screened at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival and we were in attendance. You can listen to the question and answer segment of that presentation.

The Night Of also stars Riz Ahmed, Reginald L. Barnes, Chris Bryant, Xavier Cadeau, Lord Jamar, Damany Mathis, Ariya Ghahramani, Mustafa Shakir, Samuel Standard, and Jeff Wincott.
