After Independence Day redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global catastrophe on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.

We will be getting more of a war than an invasion scenario here. That’s exciting, I suppose. Of course, I wish these genre movies would take themselves slightly more seriously. I still remember the trailer for Battle: Los Angeles giving me goosebumps, and giving me hope that we’d finally get a more grounded invasion film. But that didn’t work out too well.

Marco Margaritoff

I grew up in Hamburg to a German father and Ecuadorian mother. Obsessive student of film, Hip-Hop, and stand-up comedy. I love the dark dreambox that is the cinema auditorium. I love mountains and the ocean, but am equally exhilarated by the jungle of the city. I hope to one day create something that hits someone in the brain with thunderous effect.
