On who is playing who and the possible plot of Iron Man 3:

Iron Man 3 involves several characters new to the film series, including the villains Mandarin (Ben Kingsley), Savin (James Badge Dale), and Firepower (Hamilton). While Marvel Studios has yet to issue an official synopsis, it’s long been rumored to be an adaptation of Warren Ellis‘ Extremis storyline from the comic books, and so far the casting notices and occasional clues all seem to be in line.

On the character of Jack Taggert/Firepower:

Jack Taggert worked on Project: Firepower as the pilot for the experimental suit. The government sponsored the program stating that it was for soldiers in the next war, and to control rogue super beings; when in reality it was to stop riots. Jack trained on a simulator learning to operate the suit and take down Iron Man.

Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, and Don Cheadle are all reprising their previous roles from the previous Iron Man films and Shane Black is directing it.

Production on Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 has begun in North Carolina. “The budget just got a cool $60 million boost thanks to the outsized success of this spring’s The Avengers”.
