In the promo “Live to Tell”, Liv’s family and friends stage an intervention in order to get Liv to tell them what’s with the sudden change in her. Liv’s mother Eva (Molly Hagan) gets worried that her daughter is throwing away her life by working at the coroner’s office rather than finishing medical school. Liv’s best friend Peyton (Aly Michalka) thinks that she is suffering from PTSD. Her ex-boyfriend Major Lilywhite (Robert Buckley) thinks that Liv wants to hang out with him in order to get back together.

What her family and friends doesn’t know is that she has become a zombie after a party she went to was actually a zombie feeding frenzy. The only person who knows her secret is her boss Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti (Rahul Kohli), who allows her to eat the brains from the deceased. However, eating them allows Liv to gain their memories that help her crack many unsolved cases with detective Clive Babinaux (Malcolm Goodwin).
