JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS (2015) Movie Trailer 2: YouTube Star Makes it Big

Jem And The Holograms Trailer

Jem And The Holograms Trailer Released. Jon M. Chu‘s Jem And The Holograms (2015) movie trailer 2 stars Molly Ringwald, Juliette Lewis, and Stefanie Scott. Jem And The Holograms‘ plot synopsis: “As a small-town girl catapults from underground video sensation to global superstar, she and her three sisters begin a journey of discovering that some talents are too special to keep hidden.”

I have no interest in this because I am not a teenager who pines for “internet-fame” or likes overproduced pop-music for tweens. This is made for a specific crowd, lanky vegetarian kids in L.A. who try their hardest to look like they aren’t trying and place fame atop the list of possible, ultimate life achievements.

I didn’t catch any particular charm or enthusiasm from anyone in this trailer. It’s good to see Juliette Lewis, I guess. Beyond that, I’m all out of ideas. I didn’t even know this was based on an animated series, which is probably smart of the trailer not to tell me. Otherwise I’d think what a failed attempt at adapting it was, without even having read it. This is not Scott Pilgrim, you know why? Because that movie had a genuine heart, was inventive and propulsive. This looks…empty. What do you guys think?

I grew up in Hamburg to a German father and Ecuadorian mother. Obsessive student of film, Hip-Hop, and stand-up comedy. I love the dark dreambox that is the cinema auditorium. I love mountains and the ocean, but am equally exhilarated by the jungle of the city. I hope to one day create something that hits someone in the brain with thunderous effect.
