JOY (2015) Movie Trailer: De Niro, Cooper & J.Law in O’Russell Film

Joy Trailer

Joy Trailer. David O. Russell‘s Joy (2015) movie trailer stars Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, and Robert De Niro. Joy‘s synopsis: “Joy is the story of a family across four generations and the woman who rises to become founder and matriarch of a powerful family business dynasty.”

David O. Russell is a director I’ve admired and followed ever since I bought I Heart Huckabees from the bargain bin at Blockbuster and realized the same guy made Three Kings. He has a keen eye, and he’s a smart director. I was fairly disappointed in his Scorcese rendition that garnered praise and awards (I mean American Hustle, of course), because it didn’t feel very inspired or fresh or interesting in the slightest. I did enjoy Bradley Cooper’s Louis C.K. impression, however.

This trailer has me very excited. It seems that Russell is back in his element, following his own intuition and choosing a style that suits him. I love the grain and color palette of this trailer, though it slightly reminds of Wes Anderson, at times. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, I just hope this film is Russell’s own. It certainly looks wonderful to me, right now. I love the music, the editing, and the pretty much everything else about it.

Joy also stars Dascha Polanco, Elisabeth Röhm, Virginia Madsen, and Édgar Ramírez.

I grew up in Hamburg to a German father and Ecuadorian mother. Obsessive student of film, Hip-Hop, and stand-up comedy. I love the dark dreambox that is the cinema auditorium. I love mountains and the ocean, but am equally exhilarated by the jungle of the city. I hope to one day create something that hits someone in the brain with thunderous effect.
