Krysten Ritter Says JESSICA JONES Season 2 and THE DEFENDERS May Film Back-to-Back [Netflix]

The Defenders Cast

Krysten Ritter Reveals Jessica Jones and The Defenders May Be Shot Back-to-Back. We only used to see two Marvel series on Netflix per year, but it appears that they may have to increase that number based on what Krysten Ritter said about her show Jessica Jones and The Defenders.

With the huge success of Marvel series like Daredevil and Jessica Jones, Netflix is looking to fast track most of their shows. It means that the streaming giant may have to increase their count of shows they produce per year. Speaking with Digital Spy (via ComicBookMovie), Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter revealed that the plan is to shoot the second season of her hit series and the anticipated crossover The Defenders back-to-back. “They’ll be back-to-back. I don’t know if they’ll overlap a little bit,” the actress said. “It’s about to be a serious undertaking. I’m starting my physical training – lots of weight training and boxing.”

Ritter also touched on whether her character would appear in Luke Cage since they both appeared together on her show.

Marvel have this grand plan. Luke Cage will come out, then Iron Fist. In terms of scheduling I don’t know how it will all come out and I can’t even tell you if I’ve filmed Luke Cage.  But I’m excited for Mike to have his own show. I know the tone of that show is going to be very different. We couldn’t expose a lot of Luke’s back story because he was getting his own show, so we explored him through Jessica’s point of view.  I think that helped give him mystery and tees up his show.

As for what is coming for the titular detective when she returns for season two, Ritter said that the show would open up on some of the first season’s plots. She said:

I’m excited to see what happens next for Jessica, and the end of season one left a lot of doors open and questions unanswered. Kilgrave was her reason for getting up every morning. Saving people gave her purpose. I wonder how emotionally taxed she’s going to be now. That opens a lot of doors as to who will come out and play. We all live in the same universe, so there are endless possibilities.

Netflix’s corner of the MCU is about to get a whole lot bigger with all these series coming out. What do you think?
