Miller, Lord And Lin Share Details On Upcoming Lego Movies. In a red carpet interview with Digital Spy at the 2015 BAFTAs, The Lego Movie’s directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller and producer Dan Lin shared s few details about their upcoming films, The Lego Movie 2 and The Lego Batman Movie.

The Lego Movie team will be attending the Oscar’s to support the films super catchy song, “Everything is awesome”. Phil Lord suggested that Lego Movie fans should absolutely expect something exciting from the performance stating,

It will be by far the craziest song performance at the Oscars.

Still on the topic of music, the Lego Movie team were asked if there would be more singing in the Lego Batman Movie. Lord responded,

A big part of the Lego Batman movie is that he is a frustrated recording artist

Between the wackiness of The Lego Movie and the oddball comedy style of Miller and Lord it’s difficult to ascertain if he was being literal.

Miller and Lord were careful not to drop any spoilers, but when asked about whether they had the leeway to include other DC characters such as the Joker in The Lego Batman Movie Miller said,

We don’t want to give away any spoilers but it will be taking full advantage of the world of Gotham

For those curious about how far along the team is on the project, Miller informed Digital Spy that they are 30 pages into the script.

Released February 7, 2014 The Lego Movie was a critical success (96% Fresh Rotten Tomatoes) as well as a box office sensation ($468 million in ticket sales against a $60 million budget). In an immediate attempt to capitalize on the movies surprise success, Warners Bros Pictures greenlit a spin-off film based on The Lego Movie’s scene stealing Batman character (voiced by Will Arnett). The Lego Movie has also been at the center of a recent Oscar nomination controversy, when despite universal adoration by audiences and critics, the film did not receive a nomination in the best animated feature category.
