Anya Taylor-Joy Circling Lead in George Miller Mad Max: Fury Road Spin-off Film

Anya Taylor-Joy and other actresses have auditioned for the lead role in George Miller spin-off film to Mad Max: Fury Road. The untitled Fury Road sequel, possibly titled Mad Max: Furiosa or Furiosa, was previously rumored as one of two spin-off films following the financial success of Fury Road. One film was entitled Mad Max: Wasteland and the other was entitled Mad Max: Furiosa.

It now seems that Miller is moving forward with one of those films and it will be a prequel starring a younger version of Imperator Furiosa (previously portrayed by Charlize Theron). If cast, Taylor-joy would take on that role.

A recent Variety article had this to say about Miller’s Furiosa film:

Director George Miller, for instance, has been meeting with names including Anya Taylor-Joy for his ‘Furiousa’ [sic] spin-off, which he hopes to start shooting in 2021. Of course, Miller is making concessions to coronavirus — those auditions have taken place via Skype.

Miller is not letting the Coronvirus (Covid-19) pandemic stop him from film-making, even if its casting and per-production. I would have liked to see Charlize Theron take on the Furiosa role again but I, and other fans, are happy that we are getting another Mad Max film, even if it doesn’t star Max Rockatansky.
