MELANCHOLIA (2011) Movie Trailer: Lars von Trier, Kirsten Dunst

Kirsten Dunst, Melancholia

The Melancholia Movie Trailer has premiered. Lars von Trier‘s Melancholia (2011) stars Kirsten Dunst, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Kiefer Sutherland, Alexander SkarsgÃ¥rd, and Charlotte Rampling. Melancholia‘s plot synopsis: Justine (Kirsten Dunst) and Michael (Alexander SkarsgÃ¥rd) are celebrating their marriage at a party in the home of her sister (Charlotte Gainsbourg) and brother-in-law. Meanwhile, the planet Melancholia, is heading towards Earth. I wish the plot point of Melancholia heading towards Earth was brought out more in this movie trailer. I doubt this film will be as science heavy as the TV movie Impact was but I hope its not left completely at the door step. Obviously the people in the film like looking at the stars but are any of them actually in a science field of some kind? I wonder if this Lars von Trier film will be as explicit as his Antichrist was (which we reviewed here: Antichrist (2009) Film Review). This and The Tree of Life look like two beautiful films coming our way. Watch the Melancholia movie trailer below and leave your thoughts on it. Melancholia open in theaters in Denmark on May 26, 2011. No word yet on its US release date.
