MINORITY REPORT, BLINDSPOT, LUCIFER: Fox & NBC TV Show Pilot Episodes Leaked

Minority Report Lucifer Blindspot The Carmichael Show

Minority Report, Lucifer, Blindspot, The Carmichael Show Pilot Episodes Leaked. Fox’s Minority Report and Lucifer, and NBC’s Blindspot and The Carmichael Show have been leaked. The pilot episode for four Fall 2015 TV shows have shown up on online piracy sites across the Internet. Each episode apparently has no watermark and are pristine copies, much like the Game of Thrones: Season 5 copies and the Supergirl copy that were leaked earlier this summer.

This is too strategic to be an actual leak or theft: four shows that the networks have high hopes for get leaked weeks (and months) before their premiere, generating free buzz before the episodes officially premiere. Why weren’t episodes for returning shows leaked? Plus, after the Sony hack and the Supergirl “leak,” security for digital properties at NBC and Fox must be extraordinary and cutting-edge.

Why not just be honest and say you are giving the curious a special preview of your new, upcoming roster? What’s wrong with that? Is transparency bad?

Amazon is smart to release pilot episodes before ordering other episodes for new shows (gauging audience enthusiasm and response), saving them tons of cash on a show that viewers might not want to watch.

On the Minority Report, Lucifer, Blindspot, and The Carmichael Show leaks (via Variety):

The pirated copies appeared on torrent websites at about 2 a.m. ET Monday, according to antipiracy analytics firm Excipio.

As of 12 noon ET, “Lucifer” had been accessed by 141,498 torrent clients across the globe, while “Minority Report” was at 111,269 and “Blindspot” had hit 81,887, Excipio data shows. Figures for “The Carmichael Show” were not available at press time. The copies are authentic and bear no visible signs of digital watermarks, according to Excipio.

Well this work? Will this move build buzz or was it an actual leak / theft? What’s your opinion?
