OLD BOY: Sharlto Copley cast as villain in Spike Lee Remake

Sharlto Copley

Sharlto Copley cast in Oldboy. Sharlto Copley being cast in Spike Lee‘s remake of  the Park Chan-wook directed film answers the question of who will play the villain in the revenge thriller film. Sharlto Copley will play “the villain Adrian Pryce in Oldboy. Pryce is a mysterious billionaire trying to destroy the life of Joe Douchett (Josh Brolin).”

Sharlto Copley now has the open schedule to play the part. Sharlto Copley,  “who made his mark with his starring role in the Oscar-nominated District 9 followed by The A-Team…just wrapped filming District 9 filmmaker Neill Blomkamp’s Elysium opposite Matt Damon and Jodie Foster.”

On who wrote the new Old Boy film, who is producing it, and when it will shoot:

The new Oldboy begins shooting in late September from a script adapted by Mark Protosevich, who will co-produce. Roy Lee and Doug Davison produce via Vertigo Entertainment with Lee’s 40 Acres & A Mule. Mandate president Nathan Kahane executive produces.

Elizabeth Olsen is rumored to be in the film as well.

I saw the original Old Boy in 2003 and knew instantly that it was a classic while watching it for the first time. I have not had a movie experience like that until I saw Pan’s Labyrinth and Inception. I do not think this film needs to be remade but Spike Lee has assembled a great cast.

What are your thoughts on the remake of Old Boy?
