Riverdale Gets a Poster with Molly Ringwald Joining Cast

Fans were introduced to Archie and his friends in the first promo for The CW’s upcoming TV adaptation Riverdale. We now have the poster for the first season, which shows Archie and the group hanging out at the iconic diner Pop’s, giving us a vibe of the 80s.

In the new poster, we see Archie (KJ Apa) hanging with both Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes) and Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart). Outside of the diner, we see his former best friend Jughead (Cole Sprouse) along with Josie (Ashleigh Murray) and Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch). On one part, we may be seeing a love triangle with Archie, Veronica, and Betty. On the other hand, we see Jughead, Josie, and Cheryl outside the group, meaning they could be the social outcasts of the school. We don’t know much from the poster, but we may expect these guys to come together when tragedy strikes their town.

On top of the new poster, we also have some casting news as 80s icon Molly Ringwald has been cast to play Archie Andrew’s mom. According to Variety, the character has a past with the titular town, and a tragedy will suddenly bring her back to this place as she tries to reconnect with her son and husband Fred (Luke Perry). Her return to Riverdale also happens to coincide with the Homecoming Dance. So it appears that Archie’s family happens to have some dark secrets of their own just like the rest of the town.

So check out the poster below and let us know what you think.
