Samurai Jack Returns to Adult Swim in New Series. The adventures of Samurai Jack will continue when the show comes back for a new season on Adult Swim in 2016. To confirm this, the Cartoon Network block released a new teaser trailer showcasing the return of the cult hit.

Fans of the series were disappointed when Samurai Jack left the airwaves back in 2004 without any closure. Well, Adult Swim and creator Genndy Tartakovsky have brought the series back after leaving the network for over a decade. Genndy attempted to bring back the series as a feature film for a number of years to finish the series but it never got made. Hopefully this new series will provide some closure to fans once it airs on Adult Swim in 2016. In the teaser, we see a silhouette of what appears to be Jack in some new armor as he stands against the shadow of Aku.

Samurai Jack follows a time-traveling samurai who had one goal: to defeat his immortal enemy, Aku. Going through different time periods in the past and future, Jack has been looking for a way to defeat Aku and return to his time to prevent an apocalyptic future from happening. The series has received critical acclaim since it’s inception, with praise going to its artistic style and story. After the series was canned in 2004 after four seasons, the series managed to continue in comic book form between 2013 and 2015.
