SCREAM QUEENS: Fox Anthology Casts Taylor Lautner in Season 2

Taylor Lautner Scream Queens

Taylor Lautner cast in Fox‘s Scream Queens season 2. Taylor Lautner, most famous for his role as Jacob Black in the Twilight series, will join a cast that includes Lea MicheleAbigail BreslinEmma Roberts, and Jamie Lee Curtis.

Created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Ian Brennan, a team whose names you might recognize from Glee and American Horror StoryScream Queens packages itself as a horror comedy anthology series. Season two will take place in a hospital, where Lautner will play doctor Cassidy Cascade. Although Cascade is a doctor at the hospital and he deals with unique medical ailments of his own, when strange things begin to happen at the hospital he becomes a main suspect. Lautner’s casting follows casting news of John Stamos, who will play another male lead.

Bringing on big names like Stamos and Lautner might be Murphy’s way of attempting to appeal to broader audiences; this niche show has had somewhat low numbers in terms of live viewership. However, the numbers change when DVR and online viewing are brought into the discussion. This is Murphy’s indication that his show may be most attractive to younger audiences, who are less likely to consume television in the traditional way. Most likely, Murphy hopes that Lautner will bring with him a slew of Twilight fans, while Stamos will bring along audiences interested in Fuller House, in which he reprises is role as Uncle Jesse.

Will season two’s content differ as Scream Queens attempts to reel in wider audiences? Aside from its hospital setting, not much is known up to this point about this season’s content. Certainly, though, this will be the question on all viewers’ minds as we enter this quirky show’s second season.
