SPARTACUS: GODS OF THE ARENA: Full Cast and Character Listing

Spartacus: Gods of the Arena‘s full cast and character listing has been announced. With Spartacus: Blood and Sand: Season 2 no where in sight, I am really looking forward to this. I would be looking forward to this Spartacus: Blood and Sand prequel even if Spartacus: Blood and Sand: Season 2 was happening in the near future. “Temuera Morrison is playing Doctore, the predecessor to Peter Mensah‘s Oenomaus as the gladiators’ trainer. [Jeffrey] Thomas (‘Hercules,’ ‘Legend of the Seeker’) is playing the senior Batiatus, the father of John Hannah‘s character in ‘Blood and Sand.’ Dustin Clare will play Gannicus, the first gladiator to become Champion of Capua in the House of Batiatus before Crixus and then Spartacus rose to prominence. Jaime Murray (‘Dexter‘) will play Gaia, a Capua social climber and Marisa Ramirez (‘General Hospital’) will play a slave girl. Andy Whitfield will make a brief appearance as Spartacus. Spartacus: Gods of the Arena‘s plot synopsis: “In the prequel, Batiatus (John Hannah) is not yet the head of his family or of the gladiator training school. Gannicus is the lead gladiator in the Ludus, but the House of Batiatus hasn’t earned social respect or the right for its gladiators to fight in championship bouts. Gannicus struggles to turn around the House’s luck. Gannicus – newly promoted to the top position at Batiatus’s ludus –  is best friend to Oenomaus and his wife Melitta, forming an unlikely triangle of loyal friendship.” Sounds great. I hope Starz creates more series like Spartacus: Blood and Sand. Spartacus: Gods of the Arena will air in January 2011.
