SPECTRE (2015) Movie Poster: Daniel Craig’s Bond Has Class & History
A Brand-New Spectre Movie Poster Arrives. There has been one other poster released for Sam Mendes‘ Spectre (2015), which you can look at here. While that one looks modern and fresh, with Bond ready to kill at any second, this newest one has a more laid back, classical feel to it.
Take a look at the new Spectre poster:
Over at Birth.Movies.Death, resident writer Phil Nobile Jr. curates the Bond articles, and does a great job of contextualizing every bit of media we’re being fed. According to Nobile, “The white dinner jacket with red carnation is straight outta Goldfinger, and the death’s head behind Bond (which is also Bond, so that’s weird) plays on the past in a few ways. Skulls have been part of the 007 iconography since Ian Fleming’s dustjackets, through the films all the way to the Skyfall title sequence; the costume itself is a callback to Baron Samedi from Live and Let Die; and by literally putting a spectre over Bond’s shoulder, the whole poster is an odd riff on a line from Thunderball.”
Very interesting stuff. I caught the Goldfinger and Baron Samedi references in both the trailer and this poster, but it’s really well-put and concisely informative.
