Adam Cozad Set To Pen Screenplay For Suicide Squad 2

The Legend of Tarzan screenwriter Adam Cozad has been tapped by Warner Bros. to serve as a writer for its planned DC Comics sequel Suicide Squad 2.

Although a relative newcomer to the world of screenwriting, Cozad has also contributed to the screenplay for Kenneth Branagh‘s Tom Clancy adaptation Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. The first Suicide Squad movie, which turned out to be a major box office success for the studio, was written by David Ayer, who also directed the film.

The follow-up film is already set for release sometime in 2019 but remains in need of casting at the moment. While many speculate that at least Margot Robbie – who is already committed to a Harley Quinn spin-off -, Will Smith, and Viola Davis will return for the project, some believe that Jared Leto‘s disappointment with the limited amount of screentime he was given means that we won’t see him as The Joker again.

Per Comingsoon.net, the source of this story:

Despite being a priority for the studio, a director isn’t attached to the project just yet, with many names reportedly in contention for the job, including Mel Gibson (Hacksaw Ridge), Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland), Daniel Espinosa (Safe House), and Jonathan Levine (50/50)

Directed by David Ayer, the first Suicide Squad stars Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Adam Beach, Jai Courtney, Viola Davis, Cara Delevingne, Karen Fukuhara, Jay Hernandez, Joel Kinnaman, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie and Will Smith, most of whom are likely to return for the big screen follow-up.

**** We hired Reggie, fulfilled our obligations to him, and he quit in the middle of covering two TV series w/ no notice and no explanation. He then ignored our emails asking him to complete his coverage (we had no one else to cover those TV shows). He didn't care. We regret hiring him and we regret putting our trust in him. **** An aspiring writer, longtime film junkie, and former UCLARadio.com disc jockey (where I graduated with a BA in Political Science), I've made the jump from penning book reviews and current events editorials for HonorSociety.org to writing movie and TV news and reviews. When I'm not working towards my certificate in Radio and Television/Video Production at Fullerton College, I enjoy reading (horror, science fiction, and historical/political nonfiction are particular favorites), participating in my school's TV and theatre clubs, attending movie screenings, plays, concerts, and other events, and trying to come up with pithy things to say on social media. Believe it or not, there are occasions where I find time to write for my own leisure.
