TERMINATOR: GENISYS: Two Sequel Films in 2017-2018

Arnold Schwarzenegger Terminator 2 Judgement Day

Terminator Genisys Sequels Films already Planned. The planned 2015 reboot of the Terminator franchise entitled Terminator: Genisys already has two sequels green-lit for releases in 2017 and 2018. Which is really quite astonishing considering the first part of this trilogy is still almost a year away. “The studio…slated Terminator 2 for May 19, 2017, and Terminator 3 will follow on June 29, 2018.”

The first of the trilogy, aptly named Terminator: Genisys, brings back Arnold Schwarzenegger in the role of the T-800, a robotic killing machine. The first movie of the original trilogy (just counting T1 to T3, sans the Christian Bale prequel) shot Arnold into superstardom. Which is really remarkable since he only had 16 lines in that movie. The most memorable being, “I’ll be back”. Turns out he was right. That film made him a global superstar, earning him roles left and right, millions of dollars, marriage to a Kennedy, and the hero status he now has in his native Austria.

That’s not the only interesting member of the cast though, a cast which boast Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), J.K. Simmons (Spider Man, Juno), and Matt Smith (Doctor Who). In essence this movie has all the makings to be next year’s movie to beat. A well-known film franchise with a well-known cast produced with immense hope and a gigantic budget.

The first of this sequel will hit cinemas 6 years after Terminator Salvation, a movie which itself was meant to be the first of three. Unfortunately, as is life in Hollywood, things just had to fall by the way side. Problem began to arise when the Halcyon Company, owners of the Terminator franchise’ rights filed for chapter 11. The rights were then eventually sold on and it wasn’t until late 2012 that they were purchased by Annapurna Pictures, the producers of Zero Dark Thirty, Lawless, and American Hustle.

There isn’t much information circulating about the movies story yet but I guess it’s a safe bet it involves some kind of time travel and probably having to take another look at Arnold’s bare bottom as he appears into the past (I hope he’s been doing squats as “preparation” for the film).
