Alien: Covenant Short Film The Crossing

Ridley Scott‘s The Crossing (2017) short film stars Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender. The Crossing‘s plot synopsis: “The Crossing, an official prologue short to Alien: Covenant, reveals what happened to crew members Dr. Elizabeth Shaw and the synthetic David after the events of Prometheus. Set aboard an abandoned Engineer vessel, Dr. Shaw repairs David as they continue their search for humanity’s creators.”

I really hope that this short film is part of the final version of Alien: Covenant in some way, shape, or form. That could be via flashbacks, a dream sequence, whatever it took.

This Alien: Covenant prologue short film is the follow-up film that the few fans of Prometheus have been looking forward to since 2012. The Crossing is the Prometheus film that Alien and Aliens fans wanted but didn’t get with Prometheus. It is truly a shame that waiting-to-dies will make up the majority of Alien: Covenant and that this prologue will only be a minor segment (if it is even included in the film). From The Crossing‘s high-end nature, I can’t imagine that its footage will not be used in some capacity.

This short film was very surprising and satisfying in what it showed the viewer and how it titillated. Seeing Dr. Elizabeth Shaw repairing synthetic David and getting along (after David was a quasi-antagonist of hers in Prometheus) was an interesting twist. Perhaps they had to get along at that point. They needed each other.

The big question that came to mind while watching The Crossing short film was – what did Shaw eat and drink on her voyage? She must have gone into that cyro-bed pretty quickly before thirst and hunger began to rule her waking mind and body.

Alien: Covenant‘s plot synopsis: “Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created, with ALIEN: COVENANT, a new chapter in his groundbreaking ALIEN franchise. The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.”

Alien: Covenant stars Katherine Waterston, Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, and Benjamin Rigby.
