Swamp Thing, Tell Me a Story, Coroner, and Dead Pixels Picked Up by The CW

In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, The CW has acquired four new TV shows: Swamp Thing, Tell Me a Story, Coroner, and Dead Pixels. While Coroner and Dead Pixels have been picked up from Canadian and UK networks respectively, Tell Me and Story ran for two seasons on CBS All Access before it’s cancellation, and Swamp Thing hails from the DC Universe.

Swamp Thing, based on the titular DC superhero, starred Teen Wolf’s Crystal Reed as Dr. Abby Arcane in a small town in Louisiana as she tackles a deadly virus sourced in a local swamp. However, when it is discovered that a mysterious creature has made the swamp its home, she finds herself facing the supernatural in ways she never anticipated in this “horror-tinged” drama. The cast also includes Virginia Madsen, Andy Bean, Henderson Wade, Derek Mears, Maria Sten, and Jeryl Prescott

Tell Me a Story is an anthology series that initially aired on CBS All Access, that takes classic fairy tales such as “The Three Little Pigs” “Hansel and Gretel” and “Little Red Riding Hood”, and reimagines them with dark, twisted spins. The stories become darker, grittier, and generally more compelling. It is written and produced by Kevin Williamson, Aaron Kaplan, Dana Honor, and Liz Friedlander.

Coroner centers around Dr. Jenny Cooper (played by Serinda Swan), a recently widowed coroner who investigates any suspicious or unnatural deaths in her local Toronto.

Dead Pixels, created by VEEP and Succession alum Jon Brown, tells the story of three friends whose lives tragically revolve around the fictional and hugely popular video game “Kingdom Scrolls”.

All four shows have not set premiere dates for The CW or production schedules for new episodes. Since Hollywood is shut down, we don’t expect any of those announcements until near the Fall 2020 TV season or 2021.
