Anna Kendrick to Star in and Direct Upcoming Movie

Oscar-nominated actress Anna Kendrick is coming back with a vengeance with a new film she is going to star in and direct titled The Dating Game.

Anna Kendrick is one of Hollywood’s brightest shining stars. In 2009, she lit up the screen and got an Academy Award nod for playing opposite heartthrob George Clooney in the acclaimed comedic drama, Up in the Air. Most mainstream audiences know her, however, for her work in the delightful and comical Pitch Perfect trilogy. Now, the superstar has turned her attention to directing a dramatic thriller movie in which she will star titled The Dating Game.

Kendrick’s new true crime project The Dating Game will showcase the versatile actress’ remarkable talent as she will be playing the real-life Cheryl Bradshaw who appeared on the “original” reality show from the 1970’s called–that’s right-“The Dating Game.” Kendrick is also going to be behind the camera for this movie, making it her official directorial debut. Bradshaw got to pick a seemingly charming man on the show who was actually a serial killer named Rodney Alcala. Ian MacAllister McDonald penned the script for the film Kendrick will be helming.

It should also be pointed out that Kendrick is a big box-office draw even outside of the Pitch Perfect musical comedies. In 2018 she appeared opposite Blake Lively in A Simple Favor which was a surprise sleeper hit that grossed $53 million domestically. That movie proved to be a crowd pleaser with its “B+” CinemaScore grade and proved Kendrick still had what it takes to bring audiences into movie theaters after the Pitch Perfect series ended with its third film in 2017.

Kendrick officially made a name for herself in the original 2008 Twilight movie with a supporting role and appeared in the first four of the five The Twilight Saga pictures. Let’s not forget Kendrick received her Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination very early in her career and though she hasn’t been nominated again, the potential is there for more nods during the course of her career. Could something come from her new project? Stranger things have happened.

The Dating Game is a rich true crime story that Kendrick can certainly bring her unique sense of style to. Kendrick is an actress who carefully selects her projects and this one sounds like a sure-fire winner for the terrific performer, and it will be interesting to see how the star does behind the camera as well as in front of it. She will also be producing the project.

This new project is said to currently be in preproduction with the picture set to begin filming towards the end of October. All eyes will be on Kendrick’s work on this uniquely fascinating look at how truth can be more bizarre than fiction!
