THE DIABOLICAL (2015) Movie Trailer & Poster: Alien Home Invasion Done Right?!

The Diabolical Poster & Trailer

The Diabolical Trailer. Alistair Legrand‘s The Diabolical (2015) movie trailer stars Ali Larter, Patrick Fischler, and Wilmer CalderonThe Diabolical‘s plot synopsis: “Madison, a single mother, and her children, are awoken nightly by an increasingly strange and intense presence. She seeks help from her scientist boyfriend Nikolai, who begins a hunt to destroy the violent spirit that paranormal experts are too frightened to take on.”

Ladies and gentlemen, I’m excited. This is not just exciting, but rather, joyous. I feel happy. This trailer just made my morning.

As I’ve elaborated on in many, many previous posts, being a horror fan is tough. Needles in haystacks, rare gems, mostly all bullshit, cheap to make and easy to sell. Maybe 90% of horror movies are atrocious, and that makes it hard to retain optimism and hope for the genre.

Then, once in a while, the movie gods deliver a little gift and let you know that being safely terrified is still possible.

I am an intensely appreciative reader and consumer of all things alien grey, Men in Black (this, not this), reverse engineering of anti-gravitational tech, interdimensional travel, things of that nature. I also adore horror films that keep their premises simple, take their time executing each beat, letting the dread get to a boiling point. You can understand why this trailer has me all giddy. It reminds of the 2013 film, Dark Skies (strong, modern, “realistic” alien horror). There are lots of similarities, and I’m ok with that.

Patrick Fischler looks hilariously good in this, and I can’t tell you how happy I was to see some alien greys sneaking through a suburban home in the dead of night. That’s the stuff my dreams are made of. That’s all I want.

The poster for The Diabolical is below. I dig it. Doesn’t give anything away, slightly mysterious, etc.

Marco Margaritoff

I grew up in Hamburg to a German father and Ecuadorian mother. Obsessive student of film, Hip-Hop, and stand-up comedy. I love the dark dreambox that is the cinema auditorium. I love mountains and the ocean, but am equally exhilarated by the jungle of the city. I hope to one day create something that hits someone in the brain with thunderous effect.
