The Gate

The Gate Short Film. Matt Westrup‘s The Gate (2011) short film stars John Mawson, Elle Lewis, Robert Rowe, Tryphena Russel, and Jonathan Andrews. The Gate‘s plot synopsis: “A new virulent strain of rabies is thought to be responsible for a number of horrible deaths in the city of London. It soon becomes clear that the cause of the condition has a much more sinister origin.”

Great dialogue in this short film, its quality is the standout in it. The acting is good as well. That may be the reason why The Gate has been picked up to be made into a feature film.

On The Gate feature film adaptation:

Wayfare Entertainment has acquired the rights to produce and finance the feature-length version of the short thriller from director Matt Westrup and producer Spencer Friend.

Good news, Westrup will direct the feature version, while the group will soon hire a screenwriter to expand the film to feature length.

“Our plan for The Gate was to always expand and build upon the world that I conceived for the 11 minute short,” Westrup said. “Wayfare Entertainment shares our vision in taking those themes and ideas, and adapting them into a sci-fi thriller that is driven by a grounded, sophisticated plot and intriguing character arcs.”

Said Wayfare’s Ben Browning: “We’re always looking for intelligent genre films filled with spectacle. The Gate is a daring and original work that is a perfect addition to our slate.”
