Jennifer Lawrence The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 1

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 is Top Grossing Film of 2014. At the box office for 2014, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 brought in the most revenue, surpassing the previous number one film, Guardians of the Galaxy, for the number one spot.

The numbers behind the 2014 crown:

The Jennifer Lawrence sci-fi adventure has grossed more than $333.2 million since opening on Nov. 21 last year. That surpasses the $331.1 million total of Disney and Marvel’s superhero space romp, which ended 2014 as the box office leader after debuting in August.

The milestone for “Mockingjay – Part 1” is notable in that it was achieved without the benefit of 3D or an Imax theater run. Both of those bring ticket up-charges that boost a film’s grosses, particularly overseas.

“Mockingjay – Part” has grossed $712 million worldwide, with a Feb. 8 opening in China still to come.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 has not been released on DVD or Blu-ray yet. Once it is on February 17, 2015, the revenue that The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 has brought in will increase. “The franchise has grossed more than $2.2 billion globally for Lionsgate, including the $865 million worldwide haul of ‘Catching Fire’ and the $691 million of ‘The Hunger Games.'”

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire starred Willow Shields, Donald Sutherland, Jeffrey Wright, Lynn Cohen, Maria Howell, Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson, Jena Malone, Sam Claflin, Elizabeth Banks, Tony Shalhoub, Amanda Plummer, Stanley Tucci, Toby Jones, James Logan, Ivette Li-Sanchez, Justin Hix, Megan Hayes, Bobby Jordan, John Casino, Elena Sanchez, Daniel Bernhardt, Marian Greene, Jackson Spidel, Tiffany Waxler, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Lenny Kravitz.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 cast additions included Natalie Dormer, Wes Chatham, Stef Dawson, Mahershala Ali, Elden Henson, Robert Knepper, Evan Ross, Julianne Moore, and Lily Rabe.
