The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 Trailer 4. Francis Lawrence‘s The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 (2015) movie trailer 4 stars Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, and Philip Seymour Hoffman. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2‘s plot synopsis: “After being symbolized as the “Mockingjay”, Katniss Everdeen and District 13 engage in an all-out revolution against the autocratic Capitol.”

Though I’m largely indifferent toward this franchise, there are certain elements Francis Lawrence explores well, if not enough for my liking, but nonetheless, well. I do enjoy the dystopian portrayal of media, and its affect on our modes of behaviour, how we understand what is happening within our societies, etc. There is a very accomplished sense of class hierarchy, loss of hope, an incredibly important need for symbols, and more interesting aspects to this. However, it’s still too much of a Burger King cup or a McDonald’s happy meal for me, and I have no stake in this.  I’ve seen other films take on various parts that the Hunger Games compresses, isolate them, and explore them further than this, better than this (Children of Men, Battle Royale, V For Vendetta).

According to Empire, “It’s in this second film adapted from Suzanne Collins’ third tome that we find Katniss and the rebels making their real final push against Donald Sutherland’s scheming, rose-loving Snow and those who are still loyal to him in the Capitol. It won’t be an easy fight, as the status quo has been in place for a very long time now, but Katniss is finally ready to assume the mantle of rebel leader, talking up exactly what her beef with Snow is and demanding that everyone stop killing for him.

We’re promised a big clash for this last entry, lots of terror with the sneaky traps that Snow has in place for just such an occasion, and, of course, some sacrifice.”

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 also stars Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Philip Seymour Hoffman,Jeffrey Wright, Willow Shields,  Jena Malone, Stanley Tucci, Julianne Moore, Wes Chatham, Elden Henson, Stef Dawson, Robert Knepper, Eugenie Bondurant, Toby Jones, Meta Golding, Misty Ormiston, Kim Ormiston, and Evan Ross.
