Fox Searchlight has released the second movie trailer for Tolkien (2019). Unlike the first trailer for Tolkien, this trailer shows the viewer more of the world outside of J. R. R. Tolkien (Nicholas Hoult)’s eventually literary works, including the breakout of World War I.

Tolkien‘s plot synopsis: “TOLKIEN explores the formative years of the orphaned author as he finds friendship, love and artistic inspiration among a group of fellow outcasts at school. This takes him into the outbreak of World War I, which threatens to tear the “fellowship” apart. All of these experiences would inspire Tolkien to write his famous Middle-Earth novels.”

David Gleeson and Stephen Beresford wrote the screenplay for the film.
