TV Casting: GALYNTINE, HYSTERIA, MASTERS OF SEX, BESSIE, STITCHERS

Galyntine, Hysteria, Master of Sex, Bessie, Stitchers have all made recent TV show and TV movie casting news. These shows and movies air on Netflix, HBO, Fox, ABC, Amazon, Showtime, and AMC respectively.

Chloe Sevigny and Steven Pasquale have been tapped for recurring roles on Netflix’s untitled psychological thriller drama from Sony Pictures TV…the 13-episode series is set in the Florida Keys and centers on a close-knit family of four adult siblings (Kyle Chandler, Ben Mendelsohn, Linda Cardellini, Norbert Leo Butz) whose secrets and scars are revealed when their black sheep brother (Mendelsohn) returns home. Sevigny plays Chelsea, who has a romantic past with Mendelsohn’s character and whose brother Eric (Jamie McShane), out on parole, is living with her in their shack of a home. Pasquale plays a potential romantic interest for Cardellini’s character.

Bessie (HBO)

Mo’Nique (Precious) and Khandi Alexander (Scandal) will co-star opposite Queen Latifah in Bessie, HBO’s film about iconic blues singer Bessie Smith (Queen Latifah)…the project chronicles how Smith overcame her tempestuous personal life to become one of the most acclaimed performing and recording artists of the 1920s and ’30s, earning the nickname Empress of the Blues. Mo’Nique will play Ma Rainey, one of the first professional blues singers billed as The Mother of the Blues…Alexander will play Bessie’s older sister, Viola. By the time Bessie was nine, both of her parents and one brother had died, with Viola taking care of her siblings.

Sleepy Hollow (Fox)

British actor Neil Jackson, who guest starred in Episode 7 of the first season of the drama Sleepy Hollow, is set to heavily recur on the Fox series in Season 2. He will reprise his role as Abraham Von Brunt aka the Headless Horseman.

Recovery Road (ABC Family)

Caroline Sunshine has landed a series regular role opposite Samantha Logan in ABC Family’s drama pilot Recovery Road, based on Blake Nelson’s novel about a teenage girl dealing with addiction…the project centers on party girl high school student Maddie Graham (Logan), who spends her nights at a rehab facility. Sunshine…will play Emily Owenby, Maddie’s best friend since childhood who’s becoming increasingly concerned about Maddie’s partying.

Stitchers (ABC Family)

Felix Gomez has landed a series regular role on ABC Family drama pilot Stitchers…Gomez…will play college professor Dr. Jerome Smallwood, who teaches a grad course in computer science, in which Kirsten and her roommate, Camille, are students. Smallwood is smart and good at his job, but he’s no match for Kirsten, who can out-hack him and out-think him.

Hysteria (Amazon)

James McDaniel has been cast opposite Mena Suvari in Amazon Studios’ drama pilot Hysteria…McDaniel will play Dr. Carl Sapsi, a local Austin doctor who’s baffled by the outbreak of hysteria in his midst and initially eager to work with his friend, Dr. Harlow, to uncover the mysteries at its core. It’s only when Logan becomes a pariah in the community that Sapsi pulls away from her.

Masters Of Sex (Showtime)

Christian Borle has been tapped for a recurring role on the second season of Showtime‘s Masters Of Sex…Borle will play Frank (Francis) Masters, William Masters’ brother.

Galyntine (AMC)

Catherine Dent has become the first series regular cast in AMC drama pilot Galyntine…Dent…will play one of the survivors, Haven, who lived through the global disaster with her two kids.
