TV Casting: MORTAL INSTRUMENTS, GAME OF THRONES, Tao Okamoto in HANNIBAL

The Mortal Instruments, Game of Thrones, Hannibal, and other TV productions have made recent TV show casting, TV movie casting, and TV directing news. These shows and movies air on NBC and HBO.

Hannibal (NBC)

Tao Okamoto (Wolverine) is set for a major guest-starring arc on NBC drama series Hannibal. Okamoto will play the dark and mysterious Lady Murasaki, who possesses an alluring and classical beauty with a dark secret.

Complications (USA)

Brent Sexton (The Killing) and Joseph Julian Soria (Fast & Furious) have booked recurring roles on USA Network’s Complications….Sexton…will play Gang Task Force Officer Robert Holden, a rising star within the Atlanta police department who isn’t afraid to bend the rules. Soria…will play Alvarez, a Superior Lieutenant of the Nortenos Locos and a man you simply don’t mess with.

Falling Skies (TNT)

Catalina Sandino Moreno (Maria Full Of Grace) is set for a heavily recurring role on the fifth and final season of TNT’s alien invasion drama Falling Skies. Moreno will play Isabella, a leftist-leaning academic prior to the invasion,but now on the run and seeking sanctuary, she is a realist and canny survivor who poses as a nurse in order to win John (Colin Cunningham) approval and trust.

Marilyn (Lifetime)

Susan Sarandon (Dead Man Walking) is set for a lead role in Marilyn, a four-hour miniseries about the tragic Hollywood icon…Sarandon will play Marilyn Monroe’s mentally ill mother…the biopic will center on Marilyn, who walks red carpets in shimmering gowns while fighting a battle against demons she’s inherited from her mother, whom she loves, hates and wants desperately to save.

Marilyn was penned by The Kennedys writer Stephen Kronish. Laurie Collyer is set to direct.

Game of Thrones (HBO)

[Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje] has also booked a role on the upcoming fifth season of HBO’s Game of Thrones. Details of the role are being kept under wraps but is said to be a character not in the books with the name “Malko.”

A few weeks ago, we mentioned a casting call for a character named Clea, a young prostitute who would have a conversation would Tyrion. A reliable but as-yet-unconfirmed source has placed Welsh actress Gwyneth Keyworth in that small role.

The Good Witch (Hallmark Channel)

James Denton…has been cast as a series regular opposite Catherine Bell in Hallmark Channel’s upcoming 10-episode scripted series The Good Witch…Denton will play Cassie Nightingale’s (Bell) new next-door-neighbor, a divorced doctor and single dad who stirs things up in Middleton when he discovers Cassie’s signature charm is more than just a magic touch.

Between (Netflix)

a new drama series to be headlined by Nickelodeon comedy star Jennette McCurdy

Titled Between, the survivalist thriller series was created by Canadian writer/director Michael McGowan (Still Mine). It tells the story of a town under siege from a mysterious disease that has wiped out everybody except those 21 years old and under and chronicles the power vacuum that results when a government has quarantined a 10-mile diameter area and left the inhabitants to fend for themselves.

Canadian-born Emmy-winning director Jon Cassar (24) will helm the first two episodes.

The Mortal Instruments

Today comes official word that the company will spin off its 2013 feature film hit The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones into a TV series with writer/exec producer Ed Decter

“As a showrunner we wanted someone who shares our passion and love for these characters and stories, and Ed has a remarkable ability to form narratives.”

Based on Cassandra Clare’s bestselling YA book series, the series will reboot the chronicle of the Shadowhunters led by Clary Fray and Jace Wayland in one-hour episodes beginning with the first book, City Of Bones, and expanding into later books as the series progresses.
