The Get Down, Shetland, Preacher, and other TV productions have made recent TV show casting, TV movie casting, and TV directing news. These shows and movies air on Netflix, BBC, and AMC.

Edy Ganem and Drew Van Acker will no longer be regulars on the show but will both return for multiple episodes. Meanwhile, Mark Deklin, who joined as a new regular in Season 2, will not be coming back.

The Half Of It (CBS)

Beth Hoyt has been cast as a female lead opposite Jon Dore in The Half Of It, CBS’ multi-camera comedy pilot written/executive produced by Mike Gibbons and directed by James Burrows. Also cast in the project, from CBS TV Studios, is Morgan Krantz. The Half Of It, from CBS TV Studios, centers on Mike (Dore), a newly divorced dad who revels in the fact that he now gets to keep half his stuff, which is more than he ever had when he was married. Hoyt plays Julie, Mike’s very best platonic friend and a true cheerleader in his new life. Krantz (Switched At Birth) plays Trevor, a card-carrying hipster not opposed to sharing a day-drink or two with his hipster roommates Geoffrey (David Del Rio) and Suzi (Christine Ko). Underground (WGN)

Reed Diamond (Franklin & Bash) has landed a role in Underground…Diamond plays Tom Macon, the affable owner of a very large and successful Georgia plantation and a loving family man. Tom’s Southern accent is a little too theatrical because he isn’t even from the South; he’s from Ohio and married into his cotton kingdom, but his ambitions don’t end there: Tom is also running for the U.S. Senate.

Tyrant (FX)

Jake Weber (Hell On Wheels) has joined the Season 2 cast of FX’s Tyrant…Weber plays Jimmy Stone, the new love interest for Molly Al-Fayeed (Jennifer Finnigan).

Preacher (AMC)

Lucy Griffiths has joined the cast of AMC drama pilot Preacher…Griffiths…plays Emily, a no-nonsense single mother of three who is a waitress, the church organist, bookkeeper and Jesse’s loyal right hand.

The Get Down (Netflix)

TJ Brown is set as Boo-Boo, a mechanically minded kid who wants to get down and is an irrepressible 40-year-old in a 14-year-old body. Justice Smith (Paper Towns) will play Ezekiel, a smart, resourceful teen brimming with untapped talent and unrequited love who is determined to make his mark in this world. Shameik Moore (Dope) is Shaolin Fantastic, a child of the streets, thrill-seeking, unpredictable and eccentric but, above all, enigmatic. And Skylan Brooks (The Inevitable Defeat Of Mister & Pete) is Ra-Ra, a loyal, respected, protective friend and brother with his head screwed on tight, he’s the voice of reason beyond his years.

BBC One drama Shetland is adding a trio of new stars to its roster. Game Of Thrones‘ Ciaran Hinds, The Good Wife‘s exiting Archie Panjabi and The Hour‘s Anna Chancellor are all boarding for the third season which is currently shooting in Scotland.

James Cosmo (Case Histories), Saskia Reeves (Wolf Hall), Sara Vickers (Sunshine On Leith), Jack Greenlees (Stonemouth), Jamie Michie (Game Of Thrones), Mark Cox (Still Game), Kate Donnelly (Still Game) and Andrew Rothney (Outlander), have also signed up for Shetland‘s season 3.
