True Detective (HBO)

Stephen Dorff has been cast as Arkansas State Investigator Roland West, the eventual partner of Mahershala Ali‘s character in the series. West’s “life and career [are] influenced over three decades by a baffling crime.”

Dorff joins already cast Carmen Ejogo in the Nic Pizzolatto and David Milch-written TV series.

The Widow (Amazon and ITV)

Kate Beckinsale has been cast as Georgia Wells,

who has cut herself off from her previous life and is no longer the woman she once was. After seeing her “late” husband on the news, she is pulled back to face the world and will stop at nothing until she gets the truth about her past. This emotionally gut-wrenching thriller will take Georgia into the depths of the African Congo where danger and revelation will greet her at every turn.

The original eight-episode series will be directed by Sam Donovan and Olly Blackburn.

Upload (Amazon)

Robbie Amell has been cast as Nathan, a character who dies and has to adjust to existing in the afterlife.

Upload‘s plot synopsis: “Upload is set in the future where humans are able to “upload” themselves into their preferred choice of afterlife. When Nathan (Amell) meets his early death, he is greeted by Nora in his version of heaven. The series follows the two as Nathan grows accustomed to life away from his loved ones, and the alive Nora struggles to stay afloat working her job alongside Nathan in the afterlife.”

Narcos (Netflix)

Matt Letscher has been cast as James Kuykendal, “part of a new team of DEA agents and Colombian police who turn their attention to the Cali Cartel.”

Letscher joins already cast Michael Peña and Diego Luna in the new season.

Daredevil & Iron Fist (Netflix)

Rosario Dawson‘s will reprise her role as Nurse Claire in the upcoming seasons of Daredevil and Iron Fist.

Kidding (Showtime)

Frank Langella has been cast as Seb, “the man who built Jeff [Jim Carrey]’s show from a school project to a nationally syndicated cultural touchstone with a multimillion-dollar merchandising empire. He must balance a growing concern for Jeff with the need to keep his onscreen persona from radically changing.”

Langella joins already cast Jim Carrey and Catherine Keener in the Showtime comedy series.

Nails (TNT)

Jimmy Jean-Louis‘ character Dr. Gregory Ruval has been promoted to a series regular, “a love interest of lead Niecy Nash’s character.”

Jean-Louis now joins series regulars Carrie Preston, Judy Reyes, Karrueche Tran, Jenn Lyon, Jack Kesy, Kevin Rankin, and Jason Antoon.
