Toby Kebbell Discusses Playing Doctor Doom in The Fantastic Four. Everyone has been curious to see how Doctor Doom’s backstory would play out in the reboot of The Fantastic Four. Well, Toby Kebbell has revealed some information on his portrayal as the nefarious villain.

In an interview with Collider, Toby Kebbell talked about Victor Von Doom’s new origin story for the new Fantastic Four. Here’s what he said:

He’s Victor Domashev, not Victor Von Doom in our story.  And I’m sure I’ll be sent to jail for telling you that.  The Doom in ours—I’m a programmer.  Very anti-social programmer.  And on blogging sites I’m Doom.

So it looks like Doctor Doom’s story has changed drastically as his name has changed to Victor Domashev. Also, he isn’t the ruler of the fictional country of Latveria but instead he will be a computer programmer. With this new background to the character, we may see Doom as a smart, powerful, and intelligent for the modern times.

On playing Doctor Doom, Kebbell talked about his experience playing him on screen:

I’m excited to see it too, and my nerves really…The only thing I can tease you about is what I worked on most was the voice because nobody—even in the cartoons, when I was watching them I was like, “So where’s he from?”  There’s a mild change and I’ll tell you because of our history.

Kebbell then explained how his character plays into the overall tone of Josh’s version of Fantastic Four. “Josh, the whole deal, the lo-fi way he did it, the ultra-real.  It was just nice to do that.  It was nice to be feeling like we had to come to terms with what was given by this incident.”

Based on what Kebbell said so far, has this made you excited to see how Doctor Doom is on The Fantastic Four?

Directed by Josh Trank, The Fantastic Four also stars Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, and Jamie Bell. The film releases on August 7, 2015.
