Rupert Sanders‘ Ghost in the Shell‘s (2017) teaser trailers star Scarlett Johansson and Takeshi Kitano. The teaser trailers are very brief, not really giving away any plot points. They are visual however, showing the art design of film, and how closely the producers are trying to emulate the look and feel of the original anime film. There are a ton of Japanese influences throughout the teaser trailers. One of the highlights of the trailers was when one characters asks the Major (Scarlett Johansson) “what are you?” Intriguing question. The answer is even more intriguing.

Ghost in the Shell‘s plot synopsis: “Based on the internationally-acclaimed sci-fi property, “GHOST IN THE SHELL” follows the Major, a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic’s advancements in cyber technology.”

Ghost in the Shell also stars Pilou Asbæk, Michael Pitt, Rila Fukushima, Juliette Binoche, Michael Wincott, Joseph Naufahu, Chris Obi, Chin Han, Peter Ferdinando, Kaori Momoi, Danusia Samal, Yutaka Izumihara, and Tawanda Manyimo.
