Martin Scorsese‘s Silence (2016) movie trailer and movie poster star Andrew Garfield, Liam Neeson, Adam Driver, Ciarán Hinds, and Tadanobu Asano. Silence‘s plot synopsis: based on the novel by Shusaku Endo, “Martin Scorsese’s SILENCE tells the story of two Christian missionaries (Andrew Garfield and Adam Driver) who face the ultimate test of faith when they travel to Japan in search of their missing mentor (Liam Neeson)—at a time when Christianity was outlawed and their presence forbidden.”

This film looks intense. That intensity doesn’t just come from the Christian missionaries belief in God but also from  Japan’s violent resistance to the religion. Even in the face of mounting atrocities to stamp out the Christianity in Japan, the missionaries persist in their mission to find their mentor and continue his work. It’s impressive.

Martin Scorsese has been trying to get Silence made for 28 years. He never gave up on trying to bring Endo’s novel to the big screen.

Silence also stars Nana Komatsu, Shin’ya Tsukamoto, Michié, Ryô Kase, Motokatsu Suzuki, and Yasushi Takada.
