Floriana Lima and Ian Gomez Cast for Supergirl’s Second Season. Supergirl is adding two more roles into the mix for season two with the roles of Detective Maggie Sawyer and CatCo Editor-in-Chief Snapper Carr. The recurring roles will be played by Floriana Lima and Ian Gomez.

With the cast growing for season two, the recently acquired The CW series will be introducing characters Snapper Carr and Maggie Sawyer. Played by Ian Gomez, Snapper Carr is a character straight from the comic books who has an unusual background. He was somewhat of a mascot for the Justice League who appeared in the comics occasionally. For Supergirl, Carr will play a different role as Kara’s (Melissa Benoist) new boss and mentor at CatCo Magazine, according to EW. Hired by Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart), he is described as a man with a “commitment to hard-hitting journalism pushes CatCo reporters to dig deeper in the pursuit of excellence. He’s a man who tells people what he thinks of them, and his no-holds barred approach pushes Kara in unexpected ways.” With this role, it remains to be seen if Calista will be either be replaced or be on the show in a recurring basis.

The second role is of Maggie Sawyer, a detective for the National City Police Department who takes on a special interest in cases dealing with aliens. So we can expect Maggie to start taking a sudden interest in Supergirl when she arrives in National City. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Floriana Lima will portray the detective who has an interesting history in DC Comics. In the comics, Maggie was introduced as the captain of the Metropolis Special Crimes Unit, which handles superpowered cases. She is also known to be one of the openly gay characters in the comics, who ended up in a relationship with Batwoman.

Season two is growing into an interesting season with some fresh new faces coming into the mix. Are you excited to see Maggie Sawyer and Snapper Carr make their debuts next season?
