ADALINE: Harrison Ford cast in Lee Toland Krieger Drama Film

Harrison Ford

Harrison Ford cast in Adaline. Screen legend Harrison Ford will join Oscar winner Ellen Burstyn and Blake Lively in the upcoming romantic drama Adaline; previously titled “The Age of Adaline.” It will be directed by Toland Krieger.

Adaline is the fantastical life story of Adaline, the 29-year old titular character who, after recovering from a near-fatal accident; discovers she has stopped aging. Born at the turn of 20th century, the ageless young woman embarks on an epic, isolated, worldwide journey that spans the course of the 20th century. She keeps her secret until she meets a man who forever alters her life; a man who might be worth losing her immortality.

The original screenplay was written by J. Mills Goodloe and Salvador Paskowitz, with revisions by Allison Burnett; a refreshing change of pace from Hollywood’s current love affair with sequels and adaptations.

There has been no shortage of praise for the project since its conception and the film’s producers seem rather tickled with their cast roster:

Co-chairs Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger of Lionsgate eagerly announced they have found “the ideal director and stars.” When asked about the project. And Lakeshore president Gary Lucchesi couldn’t be more thrilled with the casting of Harrison Ford; of which he had this to say, “We are very excited to be working with Harrison Ford,” He also added. “He’s one of the great actors of our time.” Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger also included their praise for the superstar joining the cast by stating “We are absolutely thrilled to have such a talented superstar as Harrison Ford join this project and can’t wait for production to get underway.”

Their uncontainable excitement is understandable, it’s been a long time coming putting this cast together. Both Katherine Heigl and Angela Lansbury were attached to the film at one point and there has been no news yet as to who will play the magical leading man. It sounds like there really has been some genuine dedication put into finding that “perfect cast,” as Liongate’s co-chairs so put it.

Typically, when execs start generating buzz this early in the game it’s a tale-tale sign of a disaster film in the making. However, in the case of Adaline, with two award winning stars and an original story attached to the film; we can’t be anything but excited as well!

With an impressive 48 year career under his belt and cementing his name in cinematic history (literally and figuratively) as the iconic Indiana Jones and Han Solo; it’s no wonder the producers were so keen to work with the lifetime achievement award winner. Ford, who recently starred in Ender’s Game and 42, will soon be appearing in The Expendables 3 and is gearing up to reprise his star making role as Han Solo in J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII.
