BATMAN V SUPERMAN (2016): Film to Shoot with IMAX Cameras

Batman v Superman

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to Film Using IMAX Cameras. When two of the biggest superheroes in DC are sharing the screen, then it needs to be on the best format, which is IMAX. That’s right, Zach Snyder will be using IMAX cameras to shoot Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Variety reported that the forthcoming DC film will have portions of the film shot using IMAX cameras. This would be the first time that director Zach Snyder will be utilizing the use of IMAX for a film, despite his last film Man of Steel screened in IMAX venues.

For Warner Bros., this would mark the seventh film used by the studio following the releases of films such as Interstellar, Transformers: Age of Extinction, and the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII.

News first surfaced on Twitter after a user tweeted about scenes being shot in Chicago using IMAX cameras. Twitter user Mike Eisenberg was in the area when he wrote this: “Follow up on last night: Batman vs Superman has multiple IMAX cameras and they aren’t working right because of the cold. Welcome to Chicago.”

So it seems rather difficult to shoot in the Windy City using IMAX cameras, but hopefully the final product will be proven to be a cinematic experience as we see Batman and Superman sharing the screen for the first time in a live-action film. What do you guys think of the use of IMAX cameras for the movie?

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Laurence Fishburne, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Scoot McNairy, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Holly Hunter, Callan Mulvey, Tao Okamoto, Tj Norris, and Ray Fisher. The film comes out on March 25, 2016.
