BATMAN V SUPERMAN (2016): Runtime Released & Director’s Cut Rated R

Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice Runtime and Director’s Cut Rating. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) runtime has been released as has the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA)’s rating for the director’s cut of the film. The runtime for Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will be 151 minutes (2 Hours and 31 Minutes).

Recently shown the director’s cut of the same film, the MPAA has rated that version of the film R for “sequences of violence.” The MPAA also notes that the director’s cut, entitled Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition, contains “EDITED VERSION. CONTENT IS DIFFERENT FROM PG-13 VERSION. It would seem that certain action sequences were trimmed down to achieve the PG-13 rating. Or did Zack Synder shoot different version of scenes like producers did for Blade: The Series? I am guessing it is the former.

As this is Synder sole opportunity to adapt the fight between Superman and Batman, my guess is that he literally didn’t pull his punches until he got into the editing room.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice‘s plot synopsis: based on Frank Miller‘s Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, “Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs.  And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.”

Zack Snyder‘s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Jesse Eisenberg, Gal Gadot, Jeremy Irons, Jason Momoa, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Holly Hunter, Callan Mulvey, Tao Okamoto, Tj Norris, and Ray Fisher.
