Beavis and Butt-Head’s Film Sequel to Premiere on Paramount Plus

Beavis and Butt-Head will be back in a film called Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe some 26 years after they originally graced the silver screen.

Beavis and Butt-Head starred in the much-loved animated film from 1996 called Beavis and Butt-Head Do America. That film grossed an astonishing $63 million at the domestic box-office and earned a solid “B+” CinemaScore grade from audiences but there has never been an official sequel. Until now. This July, Paramount Plus will be streaming the sequel which is appropriately titled Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe.

Beavis and Butt-Head will enter the year 2022 in the new upcoming picture. While looking to “score,” our two hardly heroic doofuses find themselves immersed in the new world after being transported from 1998 by a black hole shortly after having been “sentenced to Space Camp.” This movie is most likely sure to please fans of the original MTV show and the first picture from 1996.

The genius behind Beavis and Butt-Head, Mike Judge, had once teased the idea of the two male teenage dummies growing up into adults. However, it now seems that they will remain similarly aged to their characters from the original motion picture for the majority of the new film.

A couple of years ago, Comedy Central was destined to host new “Beavis and Butt-Head” episodes. However, now, Paramount Plus will be the official home of the two lovable but idiotic misfits of the show’s title. The television series will thus go straight to streaming for fans to enjoy.

Director Mike Judge went in a different cinematic direction following the tremendous box-office success of Beavis and Butt-Head Do America. Judge proceeded to direct “Friends” star Jennifer Aniston and Ron Livingston in the 1999 box-office disappointment Office Space, a nevertheless much-loved humorous film about the politics and antics found in the workplace. While only grossing $10 million domestically (and just earning a poor “C+” CinemaScore grade), Office Space has still won over many fans throughout the years, some of whom deem it a comic classic. It will be great see Judge returning to his roots for the Beavis and Butt-Head sequel.

Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe is sure to appeal to fans of the original film as well as the television series. It is destined to become a hit for streaming giant Paramount Plus and will most likely re-fuel interest in what many once considered a long-forgotten television and cinematic financial triumph. Let’s not forget the critics. Beavis and Butt-Head Do America holds a very solid 70% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes suggesting that the picture had crossover appeal to audiences outside of its target demographic. Whether or not the critics will declare the sequel a major success is yet to be seen but be on the lookout for it this summer.
