Borat 2 has been acquired by Amazon Prime Video for October Release

The sequel to Sacha Baron Cohen’s Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan entitled Borat 2: Gift of Pornographic Monkey to Vice Premiere Mikhael Pence to Make Benefit Recently Diminished Nation of Kazakhstan has been acquired by Amazon Prime Video for world-wide distribution (240 countries and territories).

Because of the nature of the film, Cohen filmed the sequel film in secret after Coronavirus (Covid-19) lock-down restrictions were lifted in the United States and internationally. Both sets of restrictions were important to Borat 2 as it was filmed in the U.S. and abroad.

It was urgent to Cohen to get the film released before the 2020 United States Presidential Election and since many movie theaters are closed due to the pandemic, partnering with a national and international distributor hungry for original content, like Amazon Prime, was a natural choice.

In the film, Cohen reprises his role as Borat Sagdiyev, a fictional Kazakh journalist, and will presumably do what he did in the first film: “[go] undercover to get people to reveal their true selves and their often unflattering biases, with only the slightest provocation.”

Borat 2: Gift of Pornographic Monkey to Vice Premiere Mikhael Pence to Make Benefit Recently Diminished Nation of Kazakhstan will be released on Amazon Prime Video on October 23, 2020.

The first Borat film was a cultural and monetary success in the United States. Borat premiered in the Number One spot at the box office when it debuted on August 4, 2006 and went on to make $262.6 Million world-wide on a production budget of $18 Million.
